Fresh from bringing his beguiling brand of roots music to The Voice, Joshua Davis of Traverse City, Michigan, comes to the Freight for an evening of sensitive originals and well-chosen covers. Joshua’s music spans folk, country, and jazz. His latest album, A Miracle of Birds, was inspired by his travels in the West Bank. "His heartfelt documentation of 'people as people' offers up compassionate songs of hope, darkness, and perseverance," says Revue Magazine. Joshua has recorded five albums with his band Steppin’ In It, a jazz album with Shout Sister Shout, and three solo albums, as well as appearing on Mountain Stage and NPR’s All Songs Considered. Performing Songwriter Magazine calls his work "some of the liveliest and most rocking roots music around.” If you missed the TV show, he does indeed have quite a voice, husky, expressive, and easy to like!
