Jonathan Edwards broke into the big time with his million-selling hit single “Sunshine (Go Away Today)” in 1971, and in the years since, he’s amassed an impressive catalog of wonderful originals, including “Honky Tonk Stardust Cowboy,” “Shanty,” “One Day Closer,” and “Don’t Cry Blue.” Now he’s released a terrific new album, his 16th, Tomorrow’s Child, featuring contributions from an all-star cast of friends and admirers including Shawn Colvin, Vince Gill, Alison Krauss, Darrell Scott, Dirk Powell, Jerry Douglas, and Kenny Malone. Singout! calls it “a gorgeous album wrought with love and care and wisdom” and says “Jonathan is in superb voice and gives spirited performances throughout.” PopMatters calls it “a beacon of seemingly timeless appeal.” Appeal is a good word when it comes to Jonathan Edwards. There’s his sweet, pure tenor, his easy way with a song, and his passion, insight, and sensitivity, not to mention his sparkling sense of humor.

During his distinguished career, Jonathan has collaborated on albums with Emmylou Harris, the Seldom Scene, and Cheryl Wheeler, appeared on Broadway in Pump Boys and Dinettes, and scored and acted in movies. His children’s album, Little Hands, won honors from the National Library Association. What he enjoys most, though, is getting on stage with his guitar and his songs. “I’ve been doing what I do best, which is playing live in front of people,” he says. “I’ve been concentrating on that and loving it.” Chances are, you’ll love it too!

Jeff Berkley and Calman Hart are Berkley Hart, a popular San Diego acoustic duo with nine albums under their belt, including their latest, Fleur de Lis, which the San Diego Troubadour calls “intimate and personal, catchy and relaxed,” “great music, not to be missed,” and “Americana at its best.” Jeff and Calman both write songs, both play guitar, and sometimes Calman throws a little harmonica into the mix. The All Music Guide says that they “know how to create appealing, harmony-rich country-rock songs.” For proof, catch them at the Freight!
