Jeffery BroussardJeffery Broussard & The Creole Cowboys play Creole classics and contemporary zydeco with flair and force, sensitivity and soul. “A consummate showman,” American Songwriter calls Jeffery, “with a voice that rivals Otis Redding’s for grit and accessibility.” The New Yorker praises “the force of his swampy Louisiana accordion riffs and the energy of his gruff vocals.” The New York Times calls his band’s music “fabulous: you start moving in your seat as soon as their rhythmic, rich melodies, both joyous and mournful, flood the theater.”

Jeffery grew up in the farm country of St. Landry Parish in south Louisiana, the son of accordion great Delton Broussard. At the age of eight, he started playing drums in his father’s legendary band, the Lawtell Playboys. He became a leading member of Zydeco Force, mixing zydeco with funk and rhythm and blues, then founded his own band with a closer connection to his musical roots. He won a Zydeco Music & Creole Heritage Award as Accordionist of the Year in 2007. His latest album, Return of the Creole, is a tour de force of music for the good times and the hard times that stirs the heart and gets the feet tapping. If you hunger for the authentic Creole experience, feast on Jeffery Broussard and the Creole Cowboys at the Freight!
