Inga SwearingenAmericana and jazz meet their neighbors when Inga Swearingen and Round Mountain bring their unique musical fusions to our stage for a boundary-hopping double bill.

A regular performer on the radio show A Prairie Home Companion, Inga applies her fresh, luminous voice to folk and jazz music creating an open, heartfelt spectrum of emotion. Inspired by everything from straight-ahead jazz and bossa nova to American and Swedish folk songs, Inga combines dead-on pitch and natural phrasing with an infectious, positive spirit. Tonight she takes us to the new musical territory she pioneered with her most recent CD, First Rain, which she's dubbed "Swedish farm jazz," mixing bluesy jazz and beautiful down-home folk.

This evening Inga is joined by her sister Britta and guitarist Jeff Miley.

Round MountainLending dusty American grit to a worldly amalgam of global influences, Santa Fe-based duo Round Mountain presents folk music that is both foreign and familiar. Sometimes raucous (imagine trumpet and accordion played simultaneously by one person), sometimes subtle (the harp-like sound of the West African kora), the multi-multi-instrumentalist brothers Char and Robby Rothschild connect to their listeners' hearts with great songs, emotional honesty, and an engaging live show. The pair have parlayed their global musical passions into opening for Toumani Diabate and Bela Fleck, accompanying traditional Irish music's great innovator Andy Irvine, and recording great albums like their recent Windward.
