The GreencardsAfter earning ovations from "newgrass" music devotees at MerleFest to rock loyalists at Lollapalooza, the fabulously inventive Greencards return to the Freight just in time to celebrate The Brick Album, their hot-off-the-press release! With bluegrass as a starting point, the Greencards reinvent American roots music, creating a quirky, adventurous, and utterly compelling sound of their own.

Front and center is Australian singer/bassist Carol Young's warm yet ethereal vocals and the masterful playing of string wizard Kym Warner, four-time winner of the Australian National Bluegrass Mandolin Championship.

The band recently added the guitar stylings of former National Flatpicking Championship winner Carl Miner and Tyler Andal, a young fiddle whiz from Tennessee. Bursting with musical ideas, the group paints a broad canvas, with elements of traditional folk newgrass, rock, and Latin music woven in seamlessly with an irresistible sense of breezy confidence.

The Greencards career includes tours with Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson and numerous awards and acclamations, from the 2006 Americana Music Award for Emerging Artist of the Year to a 2009 Grammy nomination for Best Country Instrumental Performance, for the virtuosic tune "Mucky The Duck."
