Long the toast of Austin and Nashville, this fabulously inventive group makes its Freight debut at last! With bluegrass as a starting point, The Greencards reinvent American roots music, creating a quirky, adventurous, and utterly compelling sound of their own.

Front and center is Australian singer/bassist Carol Young's warm yet ethereal vocals and the masterful playing of string wizard Kym Warner, four-time winner of the Australian National Bluegrass Mandolin Championship.

The pair are backed tonight by guitarist Jake Stargel and fiddle player Tyler Andal. Bursting with musical ideas, the group paints a broad canvas, with elements of traditional folk and echoes from round the world woven in seamlessly with an irresistible sense of breezy confidence. The title of their new CD, Fascination (Sugar Hill), is supremely fitting.

The Greencards have won numerous awards and acclamations over the past few years, from the 2006 Americana Music Award for Emerging Artist of the Year, through tours with Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson, to last year's Grammy nomination for Best Country Instrumental Performance, for the virtuosic tune "Mucky The Duck."
