Students Rock provides scholarships based on financial need for Bay Area students who want to participate in performing arts enrichment programs not officially associated with a school district. All money raised at the benefit will go directly towards those scholarships.

The featured performers are Nat Keefe (Hot Buttered Rum) and Yoseff Tucker (The Bow Ties), performing as Good N Ready and American Roots writer/singer Kevin Beadles backed by his outstanding band. Nat Keefe is most likely going to have some friends join him, so look for an announcement for a possible third act. In addition to the music, Students Rock will hold a silent auction in the Freight and Salvage lobby. Treasures are sure to abound!

Nat Keefe of “Hot Buttered Rum” and Yoseff Tucker of “The Bowties” come together as “Good N Ready” specializing in tight brothers-singing on a collection of tunes old and new. Nat Keefe is the guitarist and baritone vocalist of the Bay Area's own, Hot Buttered Rum. In 15 years of performing, HBR has played at some of the finest festivals and venues in the nation in 49 states, including Telluride, Newport, Strawberry, High Sierra and Hardly Strictly. Nat's influences stretch from bluegrass to West African music. A prolific songwriter and producer, Nat has produced groups such as Fruition, The Brothers Strong, and Kyle Ledson, and written with Zach Gill & Dave Brogan (ALO), Brett Dennen, Tim Bluhm (Mother Hips), and the Coffis Brothers. Nat's appearance at Freight and Salvage marks a homecoming of sorts. Hot Buttered Rum recorded their first CD at the Freight in 2002. With Nat's eclectic background, you can bet he has something special in mind for the Student Rock Foundation Benefit.

Yoseff Tucker’s early life exposure to traditional bluegrass and American roots music came courtesy of his grandfather who moved to Central California from the Ozarks in the early 20th century. His first guitar came to him while he was still in diapers and an appreciation for music laid a great foundation in his life. After years of playing rock ‘n roll, Yoseff found his way back to bluegrass music and in a matter of years created a life centered on the proliferation and progress of bluegrass. His prodigious flatpicking skills have been acknowledged by the Northern California Bluegrass Society via the Guitarist of the Year award (’09, ’10, ’11, '13, '15). He has also been humbled with the award for Male Vocalist of the Year (’10, '16). Yoseff lends his guitar work and vocals to the Central Valley Boys as well as San Francisco band Supermule.

Éclair de Lune Gypsy Jazz Ensemble is an acoustic swing band featuring an eclectic blend of gypsy jazz, latin, traditional swing, jazz standards and popular tunes. Dennis Fortin on lead guitar, Danny Bittker on clarinet, Cote Reese on accordion, James Pickrel on rhythm guitar and Dave Fischer on bass.

This marks Kevin Beadles fourth appearance at a Students Rock Foundation Benefit. Kevin, last year's Grand Prize Winner of the "Great American Song Contest", has been recording and performing Americana Pop-Roots music in the Bay Area, both solo and and with his band, for 16 years. He has released two CDs and a number of well-received singles, as well. One of those singles, All the Way, garnered raves from Scott Mathews, a local music legend who has performed with, arranged material, and produced songs for such luminaries as Van Morrison, Jerry Garcia, and Johnny Cash. Scott referred to the song, as "a beautiful piece of music... both bright and dark, majestic and tragic. Kevin Beadles is an amazing artist who manages to go deep while maintaining a pop sensibility that is irresistible."

His band features Steven Gregory (lead guitar, vocals), Bruce Linde (bass, vocals), and Chuck Nelson (drums). Their credits include work with artists such as Tom Petty, Rickie Lee Jones, Shawn Colvin, and more.
