The Fred Eaglesmith Traveling Steam ShowThe Fred Eaglesmith Traveling Steam Show comes rolling into Berkeley in a Bluebird bus, with Fred behind the wheel, occasionally under the hood, and always starring in the show. A lifelong musician from the wilds of Southern Ontario, Fred recently released his 20th album, Tambourine, a celebration of the spirit of rock and roll circa 1966, “the year,” he says, “that gave us Bob Dylan’s Blonde on Blonde and Question Mark and the Mysterians.” Fred’s songs have been covered by some of the biggest names in Nashville, including Toby Keith, Alan Jackson, and Miranda Lambert. His music has been featured on True Blood and Grimm, and he and his band have performed on The Late Show With David Letterman.

Fred describes what the band does onstage as “a lot more than a concert. I like to pay attention to what’s cutting edge and bring that into the live show.” He and the band went steampunk a few years ago, and they’ve been taking their act on the road for more than 270 days a year. Last night, Gilroy; tomorrow night, Folsom. They play originals infused with rock and roll, Motown, folk, country, and Tejano influences, full of richly drawn characters, clever ideas, and great lines. If you’re a true Fredhead, you already know; and if you’re not a Fredhead yet, find out what the fuss is all about. These road dogs have a few new tricks up their leather sleeves!

Tif Ginn is a gutsy, amazing singer and a transcendent songwriter who has spent most of her adult life touring North America playing music professionally. Ginn toured first as half of the Fabulous Ginn Sisters, releasing 3 critically acclaimed CDs then as part of the Fred Eaglesmith Traveling Show. Now she takes a turn as a solo artist, fronting the band she has been playing with for the last several years. The self-titled solo debut will be released in April of 2012.
