St. Petersburg’s acclaimed Rimsky Korsakov String Quartet makes an all-too-rare Bay Area appearance. Four graduates of the prestigious St. Petersburg Conservatory, the RKSQ tour widely, and is known especially for their interpretations of 19th century Russian music. Noted local soprano Sally Porter Munro will join the quartet for this very special performance.

Le Bruit court dans la Ville – André Marchand on guitar, Lisa Ornstein on fiddle, and Norman Miron on accordion – brings together three legends of traditional Québécois music for a feast of outstanding instrumentals and stirring vocals. “Together and separately, they have helped to define Québec folk music for their generation and for the youngsters who have followed them,” says the Huffington Post.

Marty O’Reilly & The Old Soul Orchestra has a bluesy orchestral sound that harkens back to John Lee Hooker and Howlin’ Wolf, with hints of Tom Waits and the Quintette du Hot Club de Paris. Yet their music doesn’t sound like anyone else’s. It has its own melancholy appeal, moody, haunting, and oddly inspiring.

Cascada de FloresCascada de Flores returns to the Freight to present a bilingual music and dance program for children. As roster artists with both Young Audiences of Northern California and Performances to Grow On in Ventura, they have performed in over 300 Western US schools, reaching over 50,000 students with their educational program. In addition, Cascada de Flores was featured twice in World Arts West’s arts education program People Like Me.

It’s time once again when The Freight & Salvage is invaded by the music of British rock from the 1960’s. ‘THE FREIGHT GOES BRITISH REVUE #7 – THE WHO’ Every year since 2009 BIN Productions has hosted a show honoring one of Britain’s iconic rock groups, performed by current & former students of Chris Solberg. This year the honor goes to the bombastic group THE WHO. After much study & lots of rehearsing, each group will play at least three WHO tunes, plus songs of their own choosing.
