Leo KottkeWe are sold out of advance tickets for this concert. Standing room only tickets will be available when the music starts at 8pm.

Leo Kottke is a self-taught guitar genius who has made mind-blowing music on 6-string and 12-string guitars for more than 40 years. Actually, he wasn’t entirely self taught. He gives substantial credit to the trombone teachers who tortured him with tedious lessons when he was a high school kid in Muskogee, Oklahoma. However he learned, he’s put his lessons to good use playing his own idiosyncratic style of lightning-fast fingerpicking, with classical precision, jazzy freedom, and a soulful sensibility steeped in blues and American roots. “More than any other artist,” declares Wood & Steel, the newsletter for Taylor guitars, “Leo Kottke has defined the role of the contemporary acoustic guitarist as self-styled virtuoso, amassing a huge world-wide following in the process.”

He has recorded more than 40 albums, from the one in 1969 with the armadillo on it (with the highly commercial title of 6- and 12-String Guitar) to Sixty Six Steps, his collaboration with Phish bassist Mike Gordon. He has also collaborated with Jack Nitzsche, Jonathan Winters, and Rickie Lee Jones, and he worked on the soundtrack for the classic movie Days of Heaven. Throughout his career, he’s been known for his droll sense of humor and his indifference to taking the usual path. If you like guitar music, you’ve got to see Leo Kottke. Get your tickets early because this show will sell out fast.
