“If you miss an opportunity to hear Eric Taylor in concert,” says folk icon Nanci Griffith, “you have missed a chance to hear a voice I consider the William Faulkner of songwriting in our current time.” Eric is a master storyteller and songwriter who grew up in Atlanta and migrated to Houston in the early 1970s, where he learned intricate guitar licks from legends like Lightnin’ Hopkins, Mance Lipscomb, and Mississippi Fred McDowell, and traded secrets with contemporaries like Guy Clark, Townes Van Zandt, Robert Earl Keen, Lyle Lovett, and Steve Earle, as well as Nanci, who has recorded many of his songs. He has appeared on Austin City Limits, Late Night with David Letterman, Morning Edition, and Mountain Stage.

Eric recently released his ninth album, Studio 10, featuring nine new originals and a cover of Tim Grimm’s “Cover These Bones.” The songs include tributes to Eric’s friend Dave Van Ronk and to the writer and boxer Jim Tully – “compositions that showcase the intricate narrative quality and unique theater aspect of Eric's writing that set him apart,” says the website No Depression.
