This special double bill offers an evening of fabulous playing from two masters of the jazz guitar, Duck Baker and Mimi Fox. Jazz standards and originals by Duck and Mimi are on the menu for this free-flowing performance, with the show split evenly between each artist's solo playing, and some spicy duets.

Fingerstyle guitarist Duck Baker is devoted to a wide range of musical styles, from traditional Irish and Appalachian fiddle tunes to ragtime, blues, gospel, swing, and modern jazz. Duck has spent a good portion of his life exploring the roots and offshoots to be found in traditional American music, with recent years finding him focusing on the joyous sounds of ragtime, classic jazz, and swing. Duck’s originals reflect the influence of the great jazz pianist/composers, and his state-of-the-art acoustic guitar work will appeal to jazz fans, guitar fans, and anyone else who enjoys an evening of superlative music.

One of the most eloquent contemporary jazz guitarists, internationally renowned composer and recording artist Mimi Fox has been named a winner in six consecutive Downbeat magazine’s international critic's polls. She has performed and/or recorded with notable folks from Branford Marsalis to Abbey Lincoln to Stevie Wonder, but whether she's delivering duets or jaw-dropping solo sets, Mimi is a consummate improviser who seizes the imagination of her listeners with her passion, soul, and unerring ear for beauty.

Duck will be teaching the workshop Irish Tunes for Fingerstyle Guitar on Saturday, December 12 from 2:30 to 4:30 pm.
