Dr. K has done it again! A trio of inspiring, up-and-coming bands offer up a rich and heady, globe-trotting variety of music tonight. Gypsy jazz, transcendental folk, and jug band mayhem: from our stage to your ears!

The Absynth Quintet melds the familiar and the avant-gard with a unique and provocative palette of tone and texture. This is streetcorner swing and bluegrass with footstomping danceability, intertwined with playful forays into the depths of sophisticated musical experimentation. The Eugene Weekly described their sound as lying "somewhere along the spectrum of acoustic-improvisational-gypsy-jazz...plucky and tight à la David Grisman" with "a dash of Eastern European exoticism that puts you in a smoky, understated hash bar kind of mood." No wonder they were recently chosen Band of the Month on premier jam website GratefulWeb.net, as well as winning Hightimes Magazine's Unsigned Band of the Month poll last June!

A youthful neo-acoustic quintet, Elephant Revival carries a fresh sense of creativity and inspiration with their appealing sound that is thoroughly modern, yet contains echoes all manner of tradition. On the cutting edge of an emerging new genre that they call "transcendental folk," the band ranges from Scottish fiddle tunes to original folk ballads, from psychedelic country to powerful reggae grooves....and beyond. Featuring Bonnie Paine, Sage Cook, Dango Rose, Daniel Rodriguez, and Bridget Law.

Tonight's show is opened by the Quake City Jug Band, purveyors of 1920's and 1930's swing and jazz, feather boas, tap dancing, and assorted musical mayhem. While the isntrumentation of Quake City has evolved since it started out in 1997 with a washtub bass, jug, and kazoos, the quartet retains its original jug spirits thanks to members Myron Grossman, Natasha Haugnes, Steve Scott, and John Tuttle.
