David Berkeleyalbum release of Cardboard Boat

David Berkeley plays polished, folk-inflected pop with clever lyrics and a bright, shimmering sound. According to the New York Times, he “sings in a lustrous melancholy voice with shades of Tim Buckley and Nick Drake.” The Boston Globe praises his “emotional story-telling lyrics, charismatic stage presence, and hilarious anecdotes,” and the San Francisco Chronicle calls him a “musical poet.” He has released seven albums, including his brand new one, Cardboard Boat, which draws its inspiration from the chance sighting of an ugly sculpture of a brontosaurus. Not coincidentally, David also has a new book out, his second, The Free Brontosaurus. "It was a pretty unattractive piece of lawn art," he says, "but it spun me into thinking about people’s different appreciation of beauty.”

David has appeared on World Café, Mountain Stage, and This American Life. ASCAP honored him with its prestigious Johnny Mercer Songwriter Award and earlier this year he won the Kerrville New Folk competition. He was named for the City of Berkeley, where his parents lived before he was born – and now he’s back in town for a show!

Anna Tivel is a Portland-based singer and songwriter whose music, says No Depression, “freely reveals the poetry of the mind, heart, and soul, the sharp imagery of the world translated into sound." Hearth Music praises her “raft of beautiful songs with brine-soaked images of Pacific Northwest tide pools, oceans, and the birds that wheel above them in the gray skies.” ReverbNation calls her music “incredibly honest and deeply affecting.” Her albums include Brimstone Lullaby and Before Machines. She spends most of her time reading and writing and touring and fiddling and watching her dog try to catch flies by the window.
