Corinne WestCorinne West left home at age 15, guitar in hand, to travel across America in a converted school bus. She returned to California to play hard rock in Los Angeles, studied theater in her mid-20s, restored antique bi-planes, worked as a stone mason, sculpted in the Sierras, and finally came back to music, which of course had always been there. “Music is a language of the soul,” she says, “and a musician is an interpreter of sorts. If we’re doing our work well, we spend as much time listening as we do expressing what we discover.”

Her albums reflect that questing spirit. She worked with Nina Gerber and The Waybacks on Bound for the Living, Jerry Douglas, Darol Anger, Tony Furtado, and Mike Marshall on Second Sight, John Reischman on The Promise, and Kelly Joe Phelps on Magnetic Skyline, which Folk and Roots Magazine called “spectacularly haunting” and “eloquently soulful,” as well as “a work of deep feeling and deep inspiration.” Tonight she’s celebrating the release of her brand new album, Starlight Highway, with help from The Bandits, featuring Henry Salvia of Houston Jones on piano, Edo Castro on bass, Michael LaMacchia, Annie Bacon, and surprise guests!
