Pyotr Illyich Tchaikovsky’s brilliant and beloved string sextet, Souvenir de Florence, tackled by five brilliant and beloved SFCO players plus special guest “concertmaster” Kay Stern, on loan from the SF Opera. With SFCO’s own associate concertmaster Eugene Chuklov, violists Darcy Rindt and Ben Simon, SFCO principal cellist Robert Howard, and SFCO principal bassist Michel Taddei taking the role of second cello. The Russian fireworks will be flying tonight!
Classical at the Freight brings in some of the Bay Area’s best
classical musicians for an hour of outstanding chamber music in an
informal, friendly atmosphere. San Francisco Chamber Orchestra music
director Ben Simon hosts. There’s no stuffiness, no mystification, just
an invigorating evening with gifted musicians sharing the beauty and joy
of this timeless art with new audiences of all ages.
