Two Hawaiian guitarists known for their diverse musical styles, Cindy Combs and Stephen Inglis take the Freight for a mid-August trip through an eclectic blend of musical genres, with a hefty dose of slack key guitar magic.

Master of the fingerpicking style developed in the 19th century by Hawaiian cowboys who loosened, or "slacked" their guitar strings to produce a characteristic lingering sound and resonance, Cindy is also adept at blending slack key with folk, jazz, and blues. An award-winning songwriter, she's also the only woman player to release a full-length instrumental slack key album: Sunny Rain (Dancing Cat). Born in San Diego and raised in Hawai'i, Cindy began her slack key studies while in her teens, and performed all over the islands throughout the following decades, as well as touring farther afield with famed players like Cyril Pahinui and Dennis Kamakahi. She currently resides on Kaua'i.

Stephen Inglis is one of the most diverse musical artists in Hawai'i today, whose songwriting blends tradition with innovation in a lush tapestry. While he is equally at home on the acoustic and electric guitar, the art of slack key guitar has been at the heart of Stephen's music in recent years.

Their upcoming concert appearances mark the first time Combs and Inglis will combine forces to present an eclectic blend of musical genres with a hefty dose of Slack Key.
