One of the very finest players of the Celtic harp, Chris Caswell is also a natural raconteur and a respected performer on the Scottish bagpipes, Irish flute, tinwhistle, and bodhran (Irish frame drum). His original instrumental music is informed by European traditions and flavored with Middle Eastern and South American influences. A natural raconteur, knowledgeable historian, and musicologist, Chris creates performances that cast a bright spell through the music, his wit, and his obvious delight in playing.

After several years spent recording and touring with Robin Williamson and His Merry Band in the 1970's, Chris formed Caswell Carnahan with Danny Carnahan in 1980. He has made numerous recordings, both solo efforts like Holywood (2001) and as a backing musician, including Bonnie Rideout's Grammy-nominated Kindred Spirits. He also keeps busy working as an audio engineer, composing for film and broadcast video, teaching at the Freight, and making instruments: Chris' harps are considered among the finest traditional harps available. And you should hear him play them!
