The Chapin Sisters, Lily & Abigail Chapin, are best known for their pristine harmonies and haunting melodies. The singer/songwriters have been compared to sister-acts of old and Appalachian family groups, yet their original songs and arrangements have a contemporary feel. Their new release, out Oct 23rd, Today's Not Yesterday, is their first album of original material in 5 years and a follow-up to 2013's A Date with the Everly Brothers, which debuted at #2 on the iTunes Singer/Songwriter chart, #2 on Amazon's Folk Best Seller chart, #14 on Billboard¹s Heatseekers chart and was featured on NPR's Weekend Edition with Scott Simon. They have toured the world both on their own and as back-up singers for She & Him. They've been featured in Rolling Stone, Nylon, Spin, The Washington Post, The Hollywood Reporter, The New York Times T Magazine. Based in New York, this is their first show in the Bay Area in a few years.

Marty O’Reilly & The Old Soul Orchestra has a bluesy orchestral sound that harkens back to John Lee Hooker and Howlin’ Wolf, with hints of Tom Waits and the Quintette du Hot Club de Paris. Yet their music doesn’t sound like anyone else’s. It has its own melancholy appeal, moody, haunting, and oddly inspiring. With Marty on the electrified Resonator guitar and vocals, Chris Lynch on fiddle, Jeff Kissell on upright bass, and Matt Goff on drums, the band has toured nationally and internationally, and last year released their debut album, Pray for Rain. “A band true to its name,” says NPR: “soulful.” The website 4000MilesToNashville praises their “raw musical excellence.” They’re straight outta Santa Cruz, and tonight they’re taking the stage at the Freight!

The Honey Dewdrops, Laura Wortman and Kagey Parrish, are a wife and husband duo from Virginia, currently based in Baltimore, who recently released their fourth studio album, Tangled Country, a collection of ten originals featuring their gorgeous harmonies and compelling acoustic work on guitar, banjo, mandolin, and harmonica. The website FolkWorks praises their “incredible musical chemistry” and “brilliant, fluid guitar work,” and calls Laura’s voice “one of the most beautiful, authentic voices in folk music today.” Kagey and Laura won the talent competition on A Prairie Home Companion in 2008, and have been turning out amazing music ever since. "Touring is like collecting images of landscapes, sounds of voices, contents of stories, moods of places and environments," Laura says. "All of that can be useful. It tells you something about human nature, about how the world works, little by little.” The Honey Dewdrops have distilled what they’ve collected, and turned into a mighty delicious brew.
