Caren ArmstrongCaren Armstrong has been hosting award-winning songwriters at venues throughout the Bay Area for 15 years.  The popular series showcases an eclectic range of performing songwriters from all over the country/county. Artists are featured individually in the first set, and then play in the round, Nashville style for the second set. We have multiple multi-instrumentalists on this bill, which bodes well for the spontaneous collaboration that often arises from these rounds!   Prepare to be inspired, amused, moved and thoroughly entertained.

James Nash is no stranger to musical diversity. As at home with Charlie Parker and Bill Monroe as he is with Django Reinhardt and Jimi Hendrix, the accomplished guitarist embraces the potential challenges of playing multiple genres with both joy and aplomb. Nash’s broad vocabulary, both as scholar and stylist, has led to a genre-bending approach that has served him well for a decade as a lead guitarist, singer, and songwriter for the eclectic and virtuosic Americana ensemble, The Waybacks. Similarly, they make him a fitting helmsman for both the electric rock 'n soul grooves of The Nomads and the daredevil acoustic escapades of The NashVillains.  Don’t miss this rare opportunity to experience James playing solo!

Calaveras combines voices of Singer-songwriters Greg Beattie and Victoria Blythe with a half dozen acoustic instruments into original songs that are both fresh and timeless--from the roots of American traditional song forms to explorations of contemporary sounds.  Their live show is a mix of Victoria’s soaring, ethereal vocals and hauntingly beautiful fiddle on pure folk ballads and sultry jazz-fusion torch songs, and Greg’s energetic and insightful musical treatment of birth, death and everything in between. A new CD project is currently in the works with a release date scheduled for spring of 2014!
