Bob SchneiderWhen you listen to Bob Schneider, the great lines just keep popping out. “I want to make a movie with Penelope Cruz,” he sings on “Penelope Cruz.” The song sounds cheery, until you tune in to the words: “But every day / my dreams seem farther and farther / away.” In “Everything You Love,” he describes the most mundane scene: “And the game was on / and our team was winning / and we watched the television / while the world kept spinning” – but the chorus tells a different story: “God will destroy / everything you love / if you live long enough.” He sounds almost reluctant to break the terrible news, but break it he does, and the combination of his voice, his music, and his well-chosen words makes you listen and believe. This guy packs a wallop!

Bob grew up all over the map, dropped out of college in El Paso, Texas, and moved to Austin, where he played in the Ugly Americans and The Scabs before going solo in 1999. Since then, he’s released a whopping 15 albums, including his latest, King Kong Vol. 1, and placed songs in movies like Miss Congeniality, Gun Shy, and Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood. He’s won several Austin Music Awards, and he continues to make inspired music that seduces and surprises. This show should be one to treasure!
