UnderCover Mission Statement:
UnderCover Presents is a small grassroots collective that gathers musicians from every corner of the San Francisco Bay Area's music community to celebrate the broad influence of classic albums. The concept is simple: bands are invited based on their enthusiasm for the album from a range of musical genres that reflect the diverse styles and cultures that make Bay Area music unique. Each band picks a different song from the album and infuses it with their distinctive sound and personality.

UnderCover is excited to return to the Freight & Salvage after 2 sold out nights of our tribute to Joni Mitchell's Blue in January 2013.

Karina Denike is a Jewish vocalist, songwriter, and performer from the San Francisco Bay Area. Born in Britain to Czechoslovakian artists and political dissidents, she spent her early years performing street theater throughout the world before settling in Oakland, California to pursue music. Denike has toured, composed, recorded and released over 8 records with bands Dance Hall Crashers (MCA), Jezebelle (Discovery/Warner), Mr.Lonesome and The Bluebelles, The Cottontails, and her own self titled band. She has shared stages with The Pretenders, Fiona Apple, Beck, Martha Wainwright, James Hunter and The Ramones at venues such as the Fillmore, The Shoreline Amphitheatre,  and festivals from Reading (UK) to the Montreaux jazz festival (Switzerland), and her songs have been on many soundtracks including the 2012 20th Century Fox release “This Means War”. She has also recorded with dozens of groups including NOFX, Ralph Carney’s Serious Jass Project, Hepcat, Tony Sly, No use for a Name, 8 Legged Monster, and Aaron Novik, to name a few. Denike is a sought after vocalist and collaborator in S.F.’s music scene performing new composed works, with 14 piece jazz big bands, and 60’s soul groups. In October 2012, her own self–titled group was a spotlighted feature on youtube and released a double single on Porto Franco Records. They have played in Europe, Japan, L.A. and the East coast, and locally at Noise Pop, and UnderCover presents: The Pixies, Doolittle, and they are about to release their first highly anticipated album.  In June 2012 Denike played the opening party for the extremely prestigious dOCUMENTA arts festival in Kassel, Germany.
