A Founding Father of Americana and the Godfather of Pub Rock team up for a hands-across-the-Atlantic collection with their brand new Red House Records release, TransAtlanticana. Bill and Austin cut this CD in Austin TX and London UK, capturing on disc the best of a 30 year collaboration. They are bringing the album’s Texas rhythm section to the Freight, bassman David Carroll (Ray Price, Billy Joe Shaver) and drummer Rick Richards (Joe Walsh, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Slaid Cleaves), plus the mighty steel guitar of Bobby Black (George Jones, Willie, Merle.)

Grammy nominated artist and co-founder of the seminal Americana and Roots R ’n’ R band Commander Cody, Bill Kirchen offers a very rare combination of guitar virtuosity, a mastery of roots rock ’n’ roll, and an easy connection with his audience. His guitar drove the Commander Cody classic Hot Rod Lincoln into the Top Ten, and spawned a career that has spanned over 40 years and includes guitar work with Nick Lowe, Emmylou Harris, Doug Sahm, Elvis Costello and many more.

Austin is a killer keyboardist, rocking guitarist, and soulful singer and songwriter who has been at it for over five decades. While at Harvard in the late 60's, de Lone penned "One for One," the first single released by Linda Ronstadt and the Stone Poneys. He formed Eggs Over Easy, fathering the unadorned rock dubbed "pub rock." The Eggs cut an album in London with Chas Chandler, producer of Jimi Hendrix's first two albums. Austin records and tours with his own bands as well as Elvis Costello, Bonnie Raitt, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Boz Scaggs, Nick Lowe, Paul Carrack, Commander Cody, Jimmy McCracklin, Bill Kirchen, Loudon Wainwright, and many others.

Steel guitarist Bobby Black's career spans an extraordinary 7 decades. He played on the very first George Jones sessions and shared the stage with Hank Williams I and II. Against all odds, in 1972 Bobby joined and became the musical adult supervision with Commander Cody and his Lost Planet Airmen. Since then he’s played with a who’s who of musical icons including Merle and Willie, the Wheel and Sir Doug. As Bill puts it, "my pal Bobby is the last of a breed, a wonderful story teller and perhaps the most sublime musician I have ever known."
