You don’t need to be LGBT to laugh it up at “The Berkeley Gay Comedy Festival” and you won’t have to cross the bridge to celebrate Pride Month. Now three of the hottest acts in gay comedy come to the Freight in Berkeley for an unforgettable night of rainbow hilarity.

Marga Gomez is a GLAAD award winner and triple winner of the San Francisco Bay Guardian’s “Best of The Bay Comedian Award.”She is also one of the first openly lesbian comedians in the nation. Armistead Maupin has called Marga Gomez "Astonishing!" Robin Williams has praised Marga as “a Lesbian Lenny Bruce.” Her stand-up comedy has been featured on HBO, LOGO, Comedy Central and PBS. She has appeared nationally and internationally in concert, at universities, pride festivals and numerous comedy festivals including San Francisco Sketchfest, Montreal’s Just For Laughs, London’s Hot August Fringe and The Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Marga is also the writer/performer of ten solo plays. Her latest work “Lovebirds” made its New York premiere in 2014 and will open this September at the Marsh, Berkeley for a six week engagement. Marga teaches solo performance in San Francisco at Brava Theater which named her a 2014 “Artist in Residence.”

Sampson McCormick is a nationally touring stand-up comedian, writer, and activist who can make audiences double over in laughter whether he’s joking about his whacky Aunt Jackie, his twink neighbor or addressing homophobia, poverty, and homelessness. He is a favorite at LGBT Pride festivals and mainstream venues alike. His screen appearances include MTV’s Real World, and The Oprah Winfrey Network. Sampson is the author of two books, Ebonics Faggotry and Taboo Village: A Perspective On Being Black And Gay, and is at work on a third. He’s also released four comedy albums, including Don't Make Me Take Off My Earrings: Live at DC Arts Center. His comedy offers riveting, refreshing, and original takes on religion, sexuality, and politics – you know, all those things you weren’t supposed to talk about in polite company.

Micia Mosely is a bi-coastal comic sensation who has been making audiences laugh for over two decades. She is regarded as “smart, timely and also downright hilarious” by newyorktheatre.com. Since earning her Ph.D. in education from U.C. Berkeley, Micia has shared her comedic performance in cities all over the United States including, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Atlanta, Boston, Washington D.C. and Honolulu. In 2009, her one-woman show “Where My Girls At?” was nominated for a New York Innovative Theater Award for best solo performance and a reviewer from dctheatrescene.com marveled at Micia’s “true talent for improv and comedic timing”. In 2014 Micia participated in San Francisco’s National Queer Arts Festival as host and mentor to “Brouhaha,” a night of QTPOC activist comedy. Micia and Marga Gomez also brought in 2014 together performing stand-up at the sold out Brava Theater in San Francisco.
