An Italian in love with American music meets a Ukranian American mandolin & violin virtuoso for a magical evening of cross-pollinated roots, jazz, and folk.
One of Europe’s foremost guitarists, Genova-based Beppe Gambetta is a true master innovator on the acoustic guitar. Both solo and in collaboration with top-flight musicians around the globe (including stellar appearances at the Freight & Salvage in duo with David Grisman), Beppe has a style that’s memorable both for its deeply emotive tone and for its technical brilliance. As an Italian artist in love with American roots music, Beppe has a deep, multicultural style that ranges far beyond any rigid classification.
Peter Ostroushko is one of the finest mandolin and fiddle players in
acoustic music. His tours have taken him to stages across North
America and Europe, and he has earned an international reputation as a
versatile master of instrumentation and composition. Peter’s rich
blending of musical styles forms the heart of his playing and
compositions. Through his upbringing in the Ukrainian community of
northeast Minneapolis Peter learned the mandolin, balalaika, and
bandura tunes that still provide the basis for many of his compositions,
where echoes of his heritage mix with Appalachia, Celtic, and jazz
music. In addition to playing solo and with folks like Norman Blake,
Emmylou Harris, and Willie Nelson, Peter is a frequent performer on A
Prairie Home Companion.
