30th anniversary celebration w/ special guest Joe Craven
The Banana Slug String Band is an award-winning group of lovable musicians, educators, and jam band veterans from the redwoods near Santa Cruz who blend music, theater, puppetry, and audience participation to entertain, enlighten, and have fun! With “Airy” Larry Graff, “Solar” Steve Van Zandt, Doug “Dirt” Greenfield, and “Marine” Mark Nolan on vocals, guitars, mandolin, bass, harmonica, banjo, and percussion, the band plays everything from boogie to ballads, folk songs to reggae and rap. “A Banana Slug String Band concert is like being around a campfire,” says the Santa Cruz Sentinel. “Everyone is included.”
Over the past 30 years, the band has released ten-plus albums, including Slugs at Sea, Wings of Slumber, and We All Live Downstream, and won multiple National Association of Parenting Publications Awards, a Moonbeam Children's Book Gold Award, an iParenting Media Award, an Early Childhood NEWS Director's Choice Award, a Parents' Choice Silver Award, a Creative Child Magazine Seal of Excellence Award, and the Howard Bell Award for Outstanding Contributions in Outdoor Education. Today, along with special guest Joe Craven, they’re celebrating their 30th anniversary. Please come join the fun!
