Albert LeeAlbert Lee doesn’t like to brag, so we’ll have to do it for him. The man has played with everybody! From Jerry Lee Lewis and the Everly Brothers to Eric Clapton and Joe Cocker to Rosanne Cash and Ricky Skaggs to Tom Petty and Paul McCartney. He’s won two Grammy awards, recorded more than 30 albums as a solo artist or bandleader, and appeared on scores more. Emmylou Harris has called him “a brilliant guitar player,” and says “his sound is unmistakable – often emulated, never equaled. When Saint Peter asks me to chronicle my time down here on earth, I'll be able to say – with pride if that's allowed – that for a while I played rhythm guitar in a band with Albert Lee.” Born in Herefordshire, England in 1943, raised in the Blackheath area of London, he got his hands on a guitar – a Hofner President acoustic arch-top – and never looked back, soon moving on to his trademark Fender Telecaster. His appreciation of American country music has only deepened over the years. Guitar Player Magazine named him Best Country Guitarist five years in a row, and he’s long been known as the quintessential country guitarist. Lately, he’s been celebrating his long career with a documentary, an album, and a tour. Don’t miss your chance to see this living legend at the Freight.

Kate TaylorKate Taylor released her first album, Sister Kate, in 1971, just about the time her brother James had his first #1 single. Her album didn’t sell quite as well as his, but she did attract a loyal following of devoted listeners. AllMusic calls her debut “the album that got away, and all serious fans of pop, '70s rock, and good music in general owe it to themselves to seek Sister Kate out. It's a very impressive work of art.” Since then, Kate has recorded five more solo albums, including her most recent, Fair Time! Her duet with James on “It’s in His Kiss” peaked at #49 on the Billboard charts. Her music has a bluesy charm and a soulful commitment that registers somewhere deep inside.
